Carsi development work for Fenestration Manitoba

Three members of the executive met with CARSI (Centre for Applied Research in Sustainable Infrastructure) representatives at Red River College today.  The objective was to determine some testing capabilities of Carsi which would allow the Fenestration industry to highlight the advantages of some of today’s high performance window and door capabilities. It is believed that the facilities cold room is a good starting point where heat loss and condensation resistance characteristics compared to out of date/ deteriorated/ lower performance windows.  A rough outline was established as to next steps and process of getting useful results.  There were also some longer term concepts developed as it relates to “solar gain control” as well as real life examples of pre and post window replacement documentation.

Today’s Meeting following the tour and cold test room discussions:

The Centre for Applied Research in Sustainable Infrastructure (CARSI) is located at the Notre Dame campus.

It is the first dedicated research lab at a college in Manitoba. The building is constructed of energy efficient pre-cast, pre-insulated wall panels.
